Meshless Methods Development

Logo Smooth Mach Dynamics

We develop Meshless methods for continuum mechanics simulations.
In contrast tomesh-based methods such as the Finite-Element method, meshless methods offer some advantages when large deformations and discontinuities such as crack growth need to be modelled.

Much of our research efforts are available as open source, see the research code Smooth Mach Dynamics. This code is a plugin to the massively parallel particle simulator LAMMPS, a code developed by the Sandia National Laboratory in the United States. We have also developed the original Smooth-Particle Hydrodynamics plugin for LAMMPS.

Our research efforts focus on the following particle methods
